Utilities with a view

An existing cabin on a bluff overlooking Flathead Lake had a view that was to die for! Too amazing for Beth to pass up. She absolutely fell in love with the property and purchased it. After her first vacation out to it, it became clear that while the views were almost enough to sustain her, water, septic, and electricity really would also help her comfort level.

The first think we tackled was the electricity, after a meeting with Flathead Electric, it was determined that her electricity would need to come from the main road, 1100' away from the structure. Because this property was up high on a bluff, we knew there would be bedrock. We brought on a hydro jack hammer attached to an excavator and went to work. Hammering out the 700' of the trench through full depth bedrock.

Once the trench was cleared out, we laid conduit and a pull rope, setting two electrical vaults for proper connections.
Flathead Electric came out and made the connections and viola, one utility done!

Second was the water, this trench was easier and much shorter, just getting it next to the foundation, prepared for the construction team to come in and prep her bathroom foundation to allow proper penetration into the house. A well driller came out and installed the well and we made the final connections.
Last, but certainly not least was the septic system. Because of the bedrock, there was not enough soil to allow proper leaching into the ground. A system was designed to allow for a shallow leach field by bringing in additional soil and angling the drain holes to spray up, allowing maximum filtration through the available soil.

The tank however, had to be set to its full depth to allow for proper gravity drains out of the house. Using two excavators, we hammered out the bedrock from this hole, and the second excavator was used to scoop out the pieces broken off.

After some grit and determination stirred in, this whole system was completed. Inspection was performed, and Beth had all necessary utilities for her to enjoy this view for years to come!
