Old River Bridge

This motel in Columbia Heights was over 2200 sq ft, with more than 5 different types of foundations, it had asbestos and was filled with construction debris from a nearby remodel that had taken place. When this customer reached out to us, we were excited to work through this puzzle. One step at a time we demolished the structure, filled in the cavities created by basements and crawlspaces, and buried the concrete chunks.

The attached newer portion of the motel had been recently remodeled, so during our process extra care was taken to ensure that no damage was caused to the attached structure.

Here you can see the new structure that was left completely unharmed in the demolition process.

The original structure was built with what appeared to be a cinderblock foundation. Then, over the course of the next 50 years, over 19 additions were built on, all with a different type or shape of foundation/base.

All metal that could be salvaged was separated and hauled off to be recycled or repurposed. While it is not always fiscally easy to recycle, we really try to do what we can to prevent additional strain on our environment. The large metal I beams, and Bridge Beams were preserved and will be repurposed into something new.

Once the building was down it was hauled off, and the ground left behind was graded and topped with grave. At this time, it is additional parking for the existing hotel, but in the future, it will allow for a clean slate for whatever project is next for The Riverstone!
